About Laser

Laser is an abbreviation for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser treatment used for procedures uses high beam of light by absorbing pigmented skin cells such as wrinkles, skin scars or lines. The laser absorbs the skin cells by emitting heat light onto the affected area. The laser light goes in depth of the affected area and very precisely removes the undesirable cells keeping intact the surrounding skin. This is why laser treatment is safe. There is very minimal risk of having skin pigmentation or scars/bruising. The skin resurfacing involves treating the patient for tightening the skin and making them feel and look younger. Anaesthesia is given to the patient to avoid any discomfort or pain.

What can be treated with Skin Resurfacing?

Skin Resurfacing Laser treatment is used to eliminate facial wrinkles, acne scars to have smooth and clear skin. The patient whose skin is damaged due to sun exposure can also be treated using skin resurfacing treatment.

Benefits of the treatment

Dermatologists at Radiance Medispas advise to perform Skin resurfacing instead of going for Chemical peeling or Dermabrassion treatment. This is less painful as compared to other treatment. The recovery time from the skin resurfacing is less along with low cost of treatment.

Prior to treatment

Before the procedure takes place, the dermatologist would discuss every detail regarding the treatment ensuring improvement in the skin. After the discussion, the Doctor would come up with the appropriate process to be used explaining the results and costs involved in it. The skin of the patient is treated before the procedure to reduce the healing time from the treatment.

Skin resurfacing process

The doctor firstly gives Anaesthesia to the patient where the treatment is to be done. This is to avoid any pain during the process. The affected area is cleansed with a cleanser and draped properly. The doctor then throws high beam light on the affected skin area, which it quickly absorbs hence removing the imperfect skin cells. The surrounding skin is kept intact and the process ends within few minutes without any sign of discomfort or pain.

Post treatment Expectations

Mostly only one sitting is required for the laser treatment to remove the imperfect skin cells. Immediately after the treatment, the patient might feel the skin getting red which would fade away on its own. The skin discoloration generally disappears in a month’s time. The very aim of Skin resurfacing is to enhance the face providing smooth skin. The result expectation should be looked in terms of improvement and realistic than as a total correction. Post treatment the results depend upon various factors like the shape and size of the affected skin, place on the body and patient’s hereditary and general medical conditions.
